« Neither Model Nor Muse: Women as Artists | Main | Deluxe Car Camping »

25 August 2010

I spent several days in the Davis Mountains this summer with my kids, my parents, and my sister. It was a blissful escape from the high 90s and sweltering humidity of our hometown on the other side of the state and such a refreshing change of scenery. No camping this time -- we indulged in the comforts of the Hotel Limpia in Fort Davis (thanks Dad!). Daytrip opportunities to the McDonald Observatory, Marfa, and Alpine are worth the short drives, but after hiking on our last day there to a great viewing spot in the state park, we wished we had come there sooner and started talking about making the 11 hour drive out to Fort Davis again in the fall.
